Inspired by Freya Jobbins plastic collection, this sculpture is designed to be unnerving and creepy. The messy glue is meant to represent the anxiety and how we rush to hide who we are. The title camouflage is meant to represent how as we grow up, we feel this need to be like everyone else in order blend in. Just like hunters have to blend in their surroundings hence the title camouflage. The lack of completion is meant to represent the long journey ahead of all of us

Inspiration
Freya Jobbins
After being presented with the UWM (University of Milwaukee) mixed media piece, I got to brainstorming how I could incorporate the process of ready made object pieces and my overall theme of identity. I had so many ideas for this project. While I was doing more research on mixed media artists, Freya Jobbins was the first artist that caught my attention. I was so intrigued with the aesthetic of her work. I am drawn to the immense detail and creepy feeling that you get when you look at them. On top of that I knew that doing a project like this would be perfect to tie both ready made sculpture and the theme of identity together.
The theme of my art throughout has always been identity. We frequently give young children toys designed to allow them to practice for roles they will take on as adults. That’s why we have housekeeping toys, toy doctor kits, toy pots and pans, baby dolls and so on. Through play, children learn about the world and their place in it. So my question is what do Barbie dolls teach children about the world? They teach children that it is desirable to be thin, white, and blonde. The title of this piece is meant to represent how as we grow up we feel this need to be like everyone else in order to blend in, much like girls want to feel like barbies.

PROCESS
In-Process Critique, 2-23-2017
For my UWM mixed media piece I have decided to take inspiration from Fraya Jobbins. What I am taking from this inspiration is to recreate her pieces to then create a self portrait. The idea behind this piece is to cover a babrie head with other dolls parts. My main inspiration for doing piece like this is to stick to a central theme within my art, That theme being identity and how it changes/d me. The doll parts in which I will be constructing the face are meant to represent my own Reconstruction based on my perspectives of others.
As I was presenting my ideas and progress with my peers I got back some good feedback and a few things that I need to work on. As far as my time management they are a little worried that I will not be successful and fall behind. I agree with that one hundred percent. I need to get my butt in gear and work on how I am going to get this done and done well. Another point they brought up was when I presented my idea and meaning, the meaning was not clear and concise. That is why I have the paragraph above,

Materials
I used a total of 30 barbie dolls in order to have enough body parts to fill up the face. I also decided to glue the pieces with hot glue because it seemed like the most logical thing.
